| I think, besides making a topic about 1ccing Touhou in general, it'd be good to have a thread where we can discuss spell cards and how to deal with them? I find actual diagrams even better than the verbal descriptions, and while you can in fact just watch some replays, well, talking to each other about it is a bit better, in my opinion. So basically, we can post some screenshots of spellcards or replays [if needed], go over them or whatever. I think this would be rather helpful for games without spell practice; that's every game besides Imperishable Night, Ten Desires, and Double Dealing Character. Shoot the Bullet, Double Spoiler, and Fairy Wars of course are included. To start us off, I'll just pick some spellcards that I'd think people might have trouble with (or I did, haha).
You fight Marisa in IN if you pick Reimu/Yukari or Youmu/Yuyuko; if you're looking for a 1cc, naturally it's best to go with Reimu in general, but I found her small hitbox greatly helpful in Marisa's spellcards. Because Marisa's attacks revolve around stars that rotate, you want a small hitbox so you can weave quickly without worrying about getting hit too much; with Youmu/Yuyuko, I actually lost several lives trying to skirt through some stars that would have grazed a Reimu/Yukari hitbox but ended up actually hitting Youmu/Yuyuko... - Imperishable Night Stage 4B; Magic Sign "Stardust Reverie" - Normal:
For example, Stardust Reverie is actually very easy in Easy mode so I won't go over that. Spaces like between those stars that I emphasized in the darker circles, you can squeeze through with Reimu/Yukari. I'm not so sure with Youmu/Yuyuko so I wouldn't recommend trying that; but when it comes to having to slip through small spaces, anyone would recommend Reimu with her smaller hitbox.
- Imperishable Night Stage 4b; Love Sign "Non-Directional Laser" - Normal:
Again, I found it ridiculously hard to weave through the spaces in between the large stars with Youmu/Yuyuko; so again, it's Reimu/Yukari and the small hitbox. The little stars are not really much of a problem--think Patchouli's nonspells, basically, and this spellcard is not that hard as long as you can move freely through the large rotating stars.
- Perfect Cherry Blossom Extra; Shikigame "Wizard Fox Thoughts":
I couldn't find a very good picture that illustrated the mechanism, my fault. I found this card very, very intimidating, bullets everywhere, but it's actually not that bad. As long as you stay calm, that is. It's rather overwhelming, to be honest. The spellcard doesn't actually require much movement, it's mostly micro-shifting. The bullets, when shot, eventually separate into columns, and as long as you can slip into those columns you're safe--no other bullets coming toward you. What you don't want to do is go into the corner, which can happen a lot, but it just ends up in lots and lots of stress because all the bullets are stacking up so please don't do that. As long as you follow the movements, move very little, and stay in the columns, there's no real danger.
I'm not sure if these were helpful, so hopefully others can help out? I'd be very interested in some help on Orin and UFO cards.

| If it's Orin you want, it's Orin you get. All Normal mode, Reimu A - Subterranean Animism Stage 6; Youkai "Blazing Wheel":
At the start, it's safe to focus and move back and forth through the tunnel, moving diagonally downward with the lines; but when the bullet lines start to overlap, let go of focus and inch through the tunnel.
- Subterranean Animism Stage 5; Cat Sign "Cat's Walk:
Confusing at first, but actually a very easy card. Follow Orin as she jumps along the screen, focused and shooting at her. As she's nearing the end of the walk, stay in focus and watch the bullets. They only move in straight lines, so concentrate on one line at a time and go through the wide gaps. After passing the first set, follow Orin again and she should go down before she leaves, considering you have high enough power.
More to come. | |

| - Perfect Cherry Blossom Stage 5; Hell Realm Sword "200 Yojana in 1 Slash" - Easy/Normal:
It's easier than it looks. Dodge the purple bullets when you're not being slowed down, then run to the side with less red bullets. Take advantage of the slowed-down moments to do the hard dodging. Youmu makes her own cards easy by slowing you down--it slows the bullets down, but you can micrododge very well in this case.
- Perfect Cherry Blossom Stage 5; Animal Real Sword "Karmic Punishment of the Idle and Unfocused" - Easy/Normal:
It's just like 200 Yojana in 1 Slash. Dodge the smaller bullets while unslowed. For the stacks of bullets dodge them while slowed and slip out once speed goes back to normal. Not very scary.
- Perfect Cherry Blossom Stage 5; Human Realm Sword "Fantasy of Enlightenment" - Easy/Normal:
Move as little as possible. Starting from one side, work your way with tiny movements to dodge the small rice-shaped bullets; the large red bullets are homed towards you, so move a little bit--but don't move too much. As long as you're not running around a lot or making sharp movements, it should not be too much of a problem. Easier than it looks.
- Perfect Cherry Blossom Stage 5; Deva Realm Sword "Five Signs of the Dying Deva" - Easy/Normal:
Put yourself in the empty in-between spot. There are a lot of bullets, but as long as you concentrate, you'll do fine. Remember to predict the 'empty' spaces while the bullets are spawning and position yourself then.
- Double Spoiler Level 10; Earthquake "Evacuation Along the Steep Path" :
Probably the easiest level 10 card. Stay close to Tenshi, and try to stay near the top half of the screen. Once you do that, the only threat is Tenshi running into you. As long as you stay close but not too close, it should not happen.
- Double Spoiler Level 11; Divine Pillar "Meteoric Onbashira":
Not a lot of time for focused movement here. Charge focus as much as you can, and--unfocused--run when the ring of bullets is sent out. Don't go slanted like in the image. The number of bullets in the ring increases every time, so you want to get this done quickly.
- Double Spoiler Level 12; "Danmaku X From a Wandering Star":
This danmaku is actually fun. Stay in slow focus and you can charge full and take a shot anytime that you feel swamped. Most of the time, there will be one shape that's less dense. You can slip through the gaps in the stars then. It's actually very easy, so stay near the top and take pictures of Nue when you can. Defensive shots can be helpful, but you don't need them that much. Probably the easiest in Level 12.
- Double Spoiler Level 12; "Star Sword Apologetics":
Timing is key. Since the rectangular bullets captured in your photo turn into knives as soon as you take a picture, there's a pretty good chance many pictures are suicidal. Try to take the shots when there are some gaps, so that the knives don't kill you. It takes a lot of time and practice.
- double spoiler level 12; unidentified "red cloak, blue cloak":
This is all about taking shots quickly. Take the photo when Nue is spawning, get as close as you can to take the shot. Make sure they're vertically oriented. The knives increase in density, but it's still the same mechanic. For me, it depended on luck whether I ran into a pair of knives or not when shooting.

| - Moon Sign "Moonlight Ray" [Hard]:
(Hard mode only) This card is embarrassing. Of course, I mean that for Rumia. Stay in line with Rumia, dodge the tiny white bullets, and this card should be over in less than 5 seconds.
- Night Sign "Night Bird" [Hard]:
You shouldn't have to move too much, as the bullets move pretty much in a straight line. Some micrododging, yes, but don't move all over the place. Only do so when Rumia does.
- Darkness Sign "Demarcation" [Hard]:
If you know how to go about Demarcation already (I hope you do), it's the same concept. Timing gets you through the rings, and swinging back around the blue shots is easier unfocused.
- Hail Sign "Hailstorm" [Hard]:
Cirno is a big fan of unpatterned, chaotic shots. This is exactly why I hate fighting her. Focus on what's ahead of you and your hitbox and don't rely on vertical movement, since all the bullets move fairly vertically.
- Freeze Sign "Perfect Freeze" [Hard]:
The only strategy to offer is don't try to move through the frozen bullets, and go toward any area with the fewest bullets when they're frozen.
- Snow Sign "Diamond Blizzard" [Hard]:
Completely unpredictable and random. If there IS a strategy to random bullets, I don't know. Just focus.

| - DOUBLE SPOILER LEVEL 6; ONI SIGN "DREADFUL RAGING WAVES":
It took a few tries to get this card, but if you're lucky it's DREADFULLY easy. Sit in the corner that Aya is in the screenshot to avoid the big yellow lasers, dodge the small ones and take a picture, then charge in the same corner (you can probably do it on either side) and take another photo. Rinse and repeat, and then you're done. I'd say 80% of the time, the fat lasers won't hit you, so have a freebie.
I don't have a photo of it and will fill this in later, but in Mystic Square, Alice's boss attack in which the two dolls form a gap; just don't shoot and the card will be easy streaming. You can get her back easily, since this is just stage three.

| With the revival of this forum and a new game, I think it's a good idea for me to post up some Impossible Spell Card scenes. I've beaten the game, so I think I'm authorized to do this... I'll start with later days, whatever I had trouble with I guess. I'm usually a Jizo + Jizo or Jizo + Orb user, so that might be where I head. - My Way Is Truly That of Heaven!:
Subbing the Yin-Yang Orb is very very helpful here, with your primary being the Fabric. Use the Fabric for the waves of bullets spiraling inward, then quickly run down to the bottom of the screen when Miko's lasers spawn. With the Orb sub, there's no problem not getting hit by the yellow rays, but you might run out of the Fabric's uses (I have it maxed and still couldn't do it) so if you're unsure about it, use the Fabric + Mallet for the full use. So as long as you can stay away from the rays, it's not too difficult.
- Sky of Scarlet Perception of All Youkaikind:
Decoy Doll is a must for this one. You can Jizo sub or Orb sub if you like, but it's not entirely necessary. The best method is to place the doll very close to Tenshi (but not right in front of your player) - if you put it right, not only will the huge laser be taken care of, but the big fire bullets that come afterward will also be absorbed by the Doll. I used a northeasterly spot relative to her health bar. Swapping dolls doesn't pose a problem here.
Oops I'm lazy. I'll put up some more in a bit.
